Welcome to our page for the Saturday Series (fondly known as "CakeO"). The increasingly popular Saturday afternoon events are particularly enjoyed by family groups. CakeO runs from April-October each year. In off weeks and over summer we often hold informal "BrunchO" training runs on Saturday mornings - see below.

This was a toughie by course setter Aidan, forcing everyone off the river flats and up into the hills. Luckily what goes up must come down so we all had a downhill to look forward to at the end! Most people quickly abandoned their initial intentions, with those that stuck to their plans paying for it in late penalties - ouch!
No-one was able to clean up the course, though Mikkel was closest with 68 points, closely followed by Steven and Ian on 67 each. On B, Phil stayed conservative with 38 points, while Graham took a risk for more points, but lost them in penalties to finish second. Reg was not too far behind with 35 points and third place. On PW, Ros managed to beat the field with 44 points, just 2 points ahead of a bunch on 42 that included Kay, Ian M, Robert and Peter K.
Overall, the only change to the top three on A course was that Steven moved clear of Stephen to claim outright third place behind Ron and Dale. No change on B course where Phil remains unchallenged ahead of me and Philippa. Similarly on PW its status quo for now, with Michael only a few points clear of Robert, and Ros fending off Kay who is challenging for third.
See you next Saturday at Croydon Town - dress for a balmy 19 degrees!

Saturday Series
Welcome to the Saturday Afternoon Series.
Where: Parks and streets in and around Melbourne suburbs.
When: 2pm on most Saturdays from April to October.
Cost: $5 per event for adults, $2 for juniors/students
There are two Runners courses (60 mins and 45 mins) and a 60 min Power Walkers course. All courses are SCORE format, with the aim being to visit as many controls as possible in the allocated time.
Refreshments are available after all events. Please stay for a while and bring a plate of food to share. Do not rely on public toilets being available or accessible near start locations on Saturdays.
All Park and Street Orienteering events welcome people of all abilities and ages. There are a range of courses that accommodate everyone from the elite sports person right through to those who are just looking for a good walk to help stay in shape.
Saturday events are ideal for newcomers, and for kids. Families and friends can participate in groups or individually. Groups such as schools, scouts, sports or social clubs are very welcome - but please contact us at least a week prior to the event, so we can make sure enough maps are printed.
Printed programs covering all of Melbourne's Park and Street Orienteering events are available at the events. And of course information is available on this website.
Enquiries: Peter Yeates, tel 0407 345 368
