At 6.00 as BK club members and Cambewell Grammar Staff and Students were setting up in the beautiful Canterbury Gardens, the dark clouds to the north began to look increasingly ominous.
At 6.40 BK instructors took in hand the 30-40 Guides/ Scouts and parents who were taking part in the event, answering myriads of questions from the youngsters.
It seemed that people were coming from everywhere and by the time 7 .00 o’clock arrived there were 248 participants ready to go.
With the clouds now above us and the rain heavy enough to ruin the paper maps, plastic map bags were grabbed as Tom Bath- the Camberwell Grammar school O Captain- gave the final instructions before calling forward the various Courses.
With the rain increasing in intensity we had to build a Taj Mahal for Tina to use to process the results. It was remarkably effective.
Despite the weather conditions participants stayed behind to compare courses and to share experiences, in the ever increasing gloom at 8.00.

Thanks to Camberwell Grammar for their active support and in particular to David Rogers on whose shoulders the whole organisation of the event rested.

Needless to say when everyone had finished the rain stopped!
