Dandenong Creek
Thursday, 26 October 2017
Dandenong Creek has a very firm dividing line - south of the creek it's all happiness and rainbows, with nary a contour; cross the railway line and its STEEP. Really steep. It's very unusual to be able to avoid the north, but course setter Ian took pity on the shorter course competitors, putting half the controls on the flat - yippee! It may be the fastest run I've ever had on this map.
While the As, Bs and PWs were not so fortunate, they still had plenty of choices. Claiming victory on A this week was Paul, ahead of Matthew and Ron. B course saw Steven finish first, then Tim and Lanita. Andrew B took out C course, ahead of Asha and Edward. Carolyn cleaned up D course, followed by Murray and Ewen. Pat and the Newburys were the E course placegetters. Dave scored 63 points on PW, ahead of Mark on 59 and Ron on 57.
Overall, taking the early lead are Matthew, Paul and Rick on A course; Tim, Nick and Steven (tied) on B course; Brett, Janine and Ray on C course; Murray, Robert and me on D course; Pat on E course; and Dave, Ron and Peter K on PW.
See you next time at Blackburn North - and don't forget to buy your season tickets!

Eastern Series Information
Where: Eastern suburbs of Melbourne
When: 7:00pm Wednesdays; all year round
Cost: $5 per event for adults, $2 for juniors (under 21)
What to bring: jogging/walking shoes and comfortable, light coloured clothing. Bring a watch, a drink, and a torch for winter events (late March-mid October).
Please arrive 20-30 minutes early. This will provide time to help you register for the event and explain how to take part.
Groups (schools, scouts, sports or social) are extremely welcome, but please contact us at least a week prior to the event so we can ensure enough maps are printed.
In winter, there are 2 courses for runners. These are Score
format, where you visit as many controls as you can in the allocated
time, with the aim of earning as many points as possible. Times are 60
mins or 45 mins. There is also a 60 min Score course for Power
Walkers.
In summer, there are 5 runners courses ranging from 2.5-10 km,
and a 60 minute power walkers' course. For runners the format is
Scatter (visit a designated number of controls in any order, first back
wins), and for power walkers the format is Score format (visit as many
controls as you can in the allocated time).
