What a great way to finish the Saturday series - a gorgeous day, and a great course with at least half the controls in the park. Barry added to the fun by putting out two different "20" controls - but you could only choose one. They both looked deceptively easy but closer inspection revealed that you had to REALLY want them to make it worth while! Final results were on the line for the all important series awards, which we'll present on Wednesday October 18th at Forest Chase, along with a free sausage sizzle.
The A course winner was Ian, one of five people to score a maximum 70 points. The others were Nick, Helen, Stephen and Ron. Andrew G won B course with 54 points, ahead of Reg, Philippa, and Phil. PW could have been anybody's, but it was Peter K who scored 54 points and got back quickest, ahead of Robert and Geoff also on 54 points, Lauris on 53, and Ian M on 51.
The series winners have now been declared! Steven claimed victory on A1 by 2 points over Ian, with Ron snatching third place by 2 points. Helen emerged the clear winner of A2, ahead of Ray and Stuart. Phil had a solid win on B, with Peter D moving into second, only two points ahead of Philippa in third. On PW1, Michael took top spot ahead of Robert and Ros. Peter K was way out in front on PW2, Lyn was second, and Des and Bernie tied for third. Pat won PW3, with Noel second and Mike only a point behind in third. Interestingly, each of the three course winners (A, B, PW) scored a total of 895 points!
Saturday Series will take a break over summer, but for the next 2 months, you can Sprint Into Spring! Six exciting races at venues around Melbourne will take place on Saturday afternoons, featuring colour maps, electronic timing, live results, the jersey points competition, and more. Be part of the action!
