A new start location (which everyone seemed to find ok) gave ready access to the complex little lower section containing the Deakin campus and adjoining housing estate. Schon did a great job in setting up some tough choices (like when to get no 25), and the course made good use of the small area. Pocket sized maps have been a bit of a feature this series, and have proved that you don't need to fill an A4 page to get sufficient distance.
Target A winners were Andrew, Dave and Vic, all with 9 targets. Ian won Target B from Graham, with a solid score of 8 targets. Target PW went to Annie, ahead of Pete and Helen, all with 6 targets. Score A was won by Steven, then Andrew and Rick, each of them scoring a maximum 100 points. Tony had the winning score on PW with 84 points, ahead of Peter B and Ilze.
There's only one week to go - so who looks likely to take home the coveted Cadbury? Target A looks settled with Ian on an unbeatable 800, Ray on 783, and David P on 775, with only Lauris able to snatch third, with a win. Target B will also go to an Ian, as rivals Graham and Tony won't be able to catch up. Target PW is closer, with Pete on 797, only just ahead of Helen on 794. Ian S is currently third, but Bernie is only 5 points in arrears. On Score A, Steven has a perfect 800 points so the chocolate is his. Andrew B is second on 794, with Warwick third on 786, only four points ahead of Rick. Our third perfect score goes to Dave S on Score PW; Suzanne and Gwennyth will take second and third.
See you for the finale next Monday at The Glen. Don't forget that presentations will be on Wednesday October 18 at Forest Chase.

What to bring:
jogging/walking shoes and comfortable, light coloured clothing. Bring a

Please arrive 20-30 minutes early. This will provide time to help you register for the event and explain how to take part.
Groups (schools, scouts, sports or social) are extremely welcome,
but please contact us at least a week prior to the event so we can
ensure enough maps are printed.
In
summer (October-March), there are 4 runners courses ranging from 3.5-10 km, and a 60
minute power walkers' course. For runners the format is Scatter (visit a
designated number of controls in any order, first back wins), and for
power walkers the format is Score format (visit as many controls as you
can in the allocated time).

In
winter (March-October), there are 25 controls marked on the map.
