More Fun Than the Same Old Run
Bored with running the same old block? Tired of trudging on the treadmill? Looking for a new way to give your brain and body a boost? Want to see new places and meet new faces?
Park and Street Orienteering provides the perfect combination of mental and physical exercise. You do not need a compass or any special map reading ability. However, it will test your thinking while giving you a great workout in a friendly, safe, outdoor environment. Events are held all over Melbourne, all year round.
Our events welcome people of all ages and abilities, and accommodate everyone from the elite sports person to those looking for a good walk to help stay in shape.
Families and friends can participate in groups or individually. Groups such as schools, scouts, sports or social clubs are very welcome - but please contact us at least a week prior to the event, so we can make sure enough maps are printed.

All Melbourne and Geelong Park and Street winter and summer events are now loaded onto Eventor. You do not need to be registered or logged in to view and export from the Eventor calendar. You can also find all Park and Street events directly from Eventor by clicking on the Discipline dropdown box and selecting Park/Street Orienteering, and the Location dropdown box and selecting Orienteering Victoria. Make sure you select the full date range for the season, i.e. October 2017-March 2018. You can refine your search by using the Advanced Search function, and entering the name of series, e.g. Western.

Melbourne Park and Street Millennium Club Presentations Night

Melbourne's Park and Street orienteers enjoyed the second annual Millennium Club inductions and Park and Street Awards night dinner in a glittering affair on Wednesday night. With a program of presentations and awards (plus the important map trivia quiz), the evening rivaled other sporting awards nights such as the Brownlow or the Border Medal ... except that some of the attendees may not have been quite as well dressed (after all, we had just been for a run) or quite as intoxicated at the end!
The night honored our first 4 legends, Geoff, Mike, Ken and John as well as new companion and associate members. OV President, Ian, also presented awards for outstanding contributions to Park and Street orienteering over the last year. 2009 Park and Street Course Of Year Katherine Dent & Kristian Halbert (previously announced) Promotion of Park and Street orienteering Phil Giddings With the help of government funding and a number of years laying the groundwork, John and Jenny showed what could be done in with the successes of the Western series. Finding someone with the enthusiasm and ability to do this type of promotional work is often not as easy as finding the money to pay for it. Nevertheless one volunteer, Phil, was found last year to help promote the Northern Summer Series. Even in the early days, the results could be seen with new faces regularly appearing each week, providing a base to hopefully build upon.

If this award had been made in past years, names such as Wally Cavill, John Sheahan and Geoff Hudson would no doubt appear on the list of past recipients. Ray's initiative in developing the Park and Street Rankings and convening the Millennium Club in 2009 (as well as keeping all the necessary statistics) has made a major contribution to-
· increasing participation
· increasing enthusiasm
· increasing the enjoyment of participants
· strengthening the Street orienteering community spirit and improving the overall branding of the discipline with new ideas that are already being copied by other orienteers.
