Park and Street Orienteering
More Fun Than the Same Old Run
Bored with running the same old block? Tired of trudging on the treadmill? Looking for a new way to give your brain and body a boost? Want to see new places and meet new faces?
Park and Street Orienteering provides the perfect combination of mental and physical exercise. You do not need a compass or any special map reading ability. However, it will test your thinking while giving you a great workout in a friendly, safe, outdoor environment. Events are held all over Melbourne, all year round.
Our events welcome people of all ages and abilities, and accommodate everyone from the elite sports person to those looking for a good walk to help stay in shape.
Families and friends can participate in groups or individually. Groups such as schools, scouts, sports or social clubs are very welcome - but please contact us at least a week prior to the event, so we can make sure enough maps are printed.
Printed programs covering all of Melbourne are available at most events. Further information is also available on this website: Want to learn more? Click here

Park and Street - Latest News
Burnley Maze
Sunday, 3 December 2017
Burnley Maze is about as close to the CBD as we get in the Eastern series. It's one of those maps with a split personality. On the city side of Burnley Park, there's a dense network of narrow streets and lanes, where you have to keep map contact at all times. Then there's the park, the river and the railway line, forming several obstacles between east and west (kind of like the Berlin Wall). Once you cross the river, you hit the hills. There aren't many streets, and you have to grit your teeth and commit to doing a loop that will bring you back somehow. Course setter Ron managed to squeeze quite a distance out of all this, and combined with the hottest night of the summer so far, it was a tough one.
The winner of A course was Paul, followed by newcomer Michael, then Ian. Tim took out B course from perpetual rivals Steven and Lanita (in fact there are half a dozen B course runners all vying very closely this season). Janine, Rannie and Brett were first back on C course. I made it back ahead of Henk on D course. Dave scored 53 points to win PW from Damian, Helen, Kay and Muriel.
It's week 7 and we are one third of the way through the series. Paul continues to lead A course from Geoff, with Martin moving into third. Tim is winning the Battle for B, with Steven second and Nick one point behind in third. Brett, Prue and Rob are still the C course leaders, but Janine is the in-form runner with 3 consecutive wins. No change on D course where I'm still leading from Jenelle and Pam, nor on E course where Pat leads Melanie. Ron is still the top power walker, Dave has moved up tho second, and Mike is third.
See you next Wednesday at Blackburn South.
