Victorian Junior Squad - the "Rebels"

The purpose of the Victorian Junior Squad is to welcome school students into the sport, to encourage members to participate regularly in bush orienteering, and to help to develop their orienteering skills.

Any students 10-18 can join: send an email requesting further information about the Junior Squad to vicschoolo@gmail.com.

Victorian Junior Squad invites new members

How does it work?

The Vic Rebels are a loose knit network of young orienteers who meet up at events, and have the chance to participate in specially organised training activities. Many juniors play other sports, so we don’t expect attendance at every activity. We will also provide information via Orienteering Victoria’s website, and by occasional emails about coming events and squad activities.

What does it cost?

Membership of the Junior Squad is is free, however events have an entry cost of approx. $5 to $18. Training days and camps usually have a small fee.

Getting started – MelBushO series

These low key events close to Melbourne, with an emphasis on newcomers, are a great way to develop your orienteering skills. Most are in bushy parkland, which is a bit more challenging than open parks and street orienteering. Ten Sundays from April to September, start between 10.00 – 11.30 am. See http://www.melbusho.com/ for details and event information.

Bendigo series – bush orienteering most Saturdays, starting any time between 12.30 and 2.00. See www.bendigo_orienteers.com.au

State Series – high level events, about once a month. Sundays, usually start between 10 am and 12 noon. See www.vicorienteering.asn.au
