Last Chance Street O, 2009
Is it possible that Geelong Street O is the secret to breaking the drought?
Following heavy showers during the day, the last Geelong 2009 Street O set off from Oberon High School under grey skies.
Just over 50 competitors enjoyed running and walking through the nearby Waurn Ponds Valley with a few undulating hills leading to and from the valley.
A grade was taken out by Luke Haines followed by Toby Cooper and leading female Greer Sansom.
Matt Porter won B Grade from series leader Peter Thomson.
Tim Anderson is proving too strong in C Grade and was first in from Nathan McKenzie and orienteering legend David Lotty.
Mick Mutton continued his monopoly on D Grade followed in by John Sheahan and Helen Schofield. Helen has been an energetic supporter of the series particularly in setting up each event.
In power walking, Kerry Thomson put in a big effort to win from veteran Robyn Sunderland and Lyn Brown.
The next event will be on a new map called Bunyip Pool at Fyansford on 4 February 2009.

Geelong Series
Welcome to the Thursday Geelong Series - Park and Street orienteering in the Geelong area.
Where: Geelong
When: 7:00pm Thursdays from November to February.
Cost: $5 per event for adults, $2 for juniors/students
The Geelong Series offers a great range of venues which are growing every year.
Park and Street Orienteering offers an excellent opportunity for discovering all of these places.
All Park and Street Orienteering events welcome people of all ages and abilities. There are a range of courses that accommodate both the elite sports person right through to people who are just looking for a good walk to help stay in shape.
Families and friends can participate in groups or individually.
The Geelong Series operates in twilight during the Daylight Saving months.
You will always find friendly and helpful people to assist you have an enjoyable experience. Your feedback is always welcome.
Printed programs covering our Geelong events as well as Melbourne and other regional Park and Street Orienteering events are available at the events. And of course much information is available on this website.
