Geelong Thursday 26Nov,09
Despite thundery humid conditions around 50 people particpiated in the 3rd Geelong Street O event.
A grade series leader Luke Haines was not present which lead to a great battle between last years runner up Ron Thomas and adventure race competitor and organiser Sam Maffett. Through better route, Maffett just finished in front.
B grade is turning out to be an intriguing battle with the return of Matt Porter, and newcomers Peter and Kerry Thompson. Series leader Iris Suckling stumbled due to navigational errors.
Newcomer Tim Anderson is the new series leader in C grade after consistent results. The result in this section will remain unclear right to the end.
In D grade the consistent Mick Mutton is a clear leader. He is showing the benefit of having set many of the new maps for the series.
In power walking, this weeks winners were the Mnadic family but no clear pattern is emerging. Lyn Browne is series leader but has been challenged over the last two weeks.
Next week is the King of the Mountains event. The course will include the hill climb from next years world cycling championship as well as walking along the river. It is a new map with 10 metres contours! Special prizes will be given to the male and female winners of each section.
